Imagined Journeys
As kids, my brother and I would create characters and fantasy worlds together, weaving stories, suggesting and tossing ideas, and enjoying every minute of our imagined adventures. Since 2007, characters and stories that I thought had long dwindled from my imagination, followed me and inspired me through my young adulthood. They are derived from my childhood, inspired by my two brothers and our shared love of adventure, heroism, and struggles. Although I hadn't traveled miles or crossed oceans as a kid, the journeys my siblings and I ventured through were no less true than the fragmenting memories of reality.
Thirteen kingdoms once ruled territories of the world before the fall of all of them except for the Empire where humans had solely inhabited. When the Empire finally did fall, the population of elementals, humans with supernatural powers, dropped tremendously, having been impacted by the wars. These maps depict the territories of the twelve kingdoms now only remembered through legends. The descriptions are accounts of their myths, their characteristics, and their relations with other nations. I am fascinated with diversity, but also by tensions and stereotypes that are conveyed by the tales of the kingdoms' gods. This is the world of the imagination.
